Women's Soccer: Westminster 4, Blackburn (Ill.) 1

The Westminster Lady Blue Jays are on a five-game winning streak after they took down the Blackburn Lady Beavers in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday at home.

Blackburn (5-10-1, 2-4 SLIAC) took the lead when Maya March scored an unassisted goal in the 12th minute.

Westminster tied the game when junior Paige Townsend scored on an assist by junior forward Payton Beeler in the 24th minute. The Lady Blue Jays took the lead when Townsend scored on another Beeler assist in the 28th minute.

Junior midfielder Morgan Henry scored an unassisted goal in the 49th minute to stretch Westminster's lead to 3-0. Senior forward Adrienne Ebersole came up with an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.

Westminster had 31 shots - 18 on goal - and 11 corner kicks.

On Thursday, Westminster beat the Illinois College Lady Blues 5-1 in a non-conference game.

Westminster took the lead in the 16th minute when junior midfielder Honor Kehde scored an unassisted goal. Sophomore midfielder Heidi Gundy added an unassisted goal in the 31st minute and the Lady Blue Jays profited from an own goal by Illinois College (7-8-1) in the 34th minute to extend their lead to 3-0.

Junior defender Kaely Fitterling scored a goal in the 45th minute off an assist by Beeler. Gundy scored her second goal in the 68th minute, assisted by Ebersole.

Illinois College scored its only goal in the 73rd minute.

Westminster had 14 shots - 11 on goal - with three corner kicks.

The Lady Blue Jays play a SLIAC game at Fontbonne at 6 p.m. today.
