Men's Soccer: Westminster 5, Blackburn 1

The Westminster Blue Jays are on a three-game winning streak after they beat the Blackburn Beavers 5-1 in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at home.

Blackburn (5-7-3, 2-3-1 SLIAC) took the lead in the 18th minute when Steven Cowls was assisted by Jordan Allen.

Westminster (10-3-1, 5-1-1) tied the game in the 32nd minute on an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder Cooper Smith. Junior midfielder Daniel Barone scored an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.

Senior forward Drake Trease came up with an unassisted goal in the 55th minute and senior forward Drew Cook added an unassisted goal in the 60th minute to stretch the Lady Blue Jays' advantage to 4-1.

The Blue Jays scored again in the 72nd minute when senior midfielder David Immanuel was assisted by junior midfielder Mauricio Mateo.

Westminster tallied 45 shots - 17 on goal - and eight corner kicks.

The Blue Jays play a SLIAC game at Fontbonne at 8 p.m. today.
