The 2019 Town and Country Dinner is returning to the big city this year - and promises to be an electrifying evening.

The Callaway Chamber of Commerce has announced the dinner will be 5-7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Callaway Electric Cooperative. This always-popular event is designed to increase interaction and closeness between two of Callaway County's most prominent employment sectors: industry and agriculture.

Businesses from the city and county take turns serving as hosts of the annual event.

"It is an honor to be selected by the Callaway Chamber of Commerce to host this year's Town and Country Event," said Clint Smith, assistant manager of Callaway Electric Cooperative.

He is looking forward to hosting the event again this year.

"We had the opportunity to host 10 years ago when we moved into our facility and look forward to having this unique group of business and agricultural leaders along with many community residents with us again in 2019," he said.

Representatives from Callaway Electric Cooperative will offer insight into their history in the community along with information on electric safety and much more.

"In addition to the Chamber's activities, we will have presentations available on electric safety along with our all electric vehicle and an update on both Callaway Electric and Callabyte," Smith added.

Founded more than 75 years ago by residents of rural Callaway and Montgomery counties, CEC now provides electricity to nearly 13,000 residential, agricultural and commercial customers. Cooperative members may attend an annual meeting to consider bylaw proposals and hear reports from the board and CEC officials.

CEC also owns Callabyte, a rural broadband service that launched with a pilot program in 2015 and has expanded rapidly ever since.

Following their presentation, honors will be awarded to the host, as well as a business who supports the agricultural community and a Legacy Farmer.

Tamara Tateosian, executive director of the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, is excited for this year's event.

"This is a great event that highlights the agricultural businesses in our community and fosters growth and interaction between industry and agriculture," she said.

The evening's entertainment will include cornhole boards for friendly competition, an old-style drink station and much more.

General admission tickets are available now at the Chamber office at 510 Market St. in Fulton and are $25. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the event. For more information on a sponsorship or to reserve your ticket now, call the Chamber at 573-642-3055 or email [email protected].
