2 Jefferson City men indicted

Recently the Cole County Grand Jury handed down several indictments finding there was enough evidence to send the cases to the circuit courts for possible trial.

Among those indicted was a Jefferson City man charged with drug distribution in connection with a Mustang Drug Task Force investigation from April 2014.

Douglas Norvell, 42, had arranged to meet with a confidential informant, who was working with the drug task force, to sell prescription pills, a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows.

The informant's vehicle was equipped with audio/video recording devices to capture the transaction.

The informant drove to Norvell's residence in the 900 block of West McCarty Street, where Norvell came out and got into the informant's vehicle. After a brief time, he got out of the vehicle, and the informant drove away.

The two conducted a deal for five pills of the controlled substance Clonazepam.

After reviewing the video, Norvell was identified as the subject selling the narcotics.

Also indicted was a former First Student school bus driver, who has been charged with raping a girl who rode his bus.

Kory King, 23, of Jefferson City, is charged with a felony of second-degree statutory rape and a misdemeanor charge of furnishing pornographic materials to a minor.

King and the victim, who is under the age of 17, said they began to talk on social media, and at some point, he sent her lewd photos of himself via Snapchat, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement.

Early this year - possibly March, according to the victim and King - the two arranged to meet. He drove to the victim's home in Cole County, and the two had consensual sex twice.

King told investigators he knew the victim was under 17 and his actions were illegal.
