Several vintage Chevrolet vehicles will be touring Jefferson City and other Mid-Missouri towns this week.

Forty-five vehicles with 90 members of the Vintage Chevrolet Car Club of America are also visiting Boonville, Fulton and Hermann.

"You've got a lot of people who like to show their cars, but we like to get out and drive them," said group member Gene Meara, of St. Louis. "We like to go to smaller communities, not the big cities, and take the back roads."

Meara said all the vehicles are original models, not street rod or modified vehicles.

"Our oldest car is from 1926, and the newest is from 1954," he said. "We take them out for whole days and drive them about 100 miles each day."

Meara said they've been planning this trip for about a year and a half.

"Our mission is to get the cars to look like what they did on the show room floor, and we're fortunate there's still a lot of parts out there to help us with that," he said.
