The Lady Bulldogs had no hits and just one base runner in a 1-0 loss to the Liberty North Lady Eagles in the championship game of the War on the Battlefield Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
South Callaway (5-2) got its only runner aboard on sophomore outfielder Alyssa Laughlin's lead-off walk in the sixth inning.
Liberty North tallied the game's only run off of Lady Bulldogs junior pitcher Ashley Miller in the third.
Miller took the loss, throwing 2 2/3 innings and allowing a run on one hit and a walk. Sophomore Konnor Arrowood struck out six in 4 1/3 innings of relief, holding the Lady Eagles scoreless and hitless, while walking a batter.
Arrowood and sophomore left fielder Nicole Horstman each went 3-for-5 in South Callaway's 7-4 victory over Mexico in the semifinals on Saturday.
Senior catcher Anna Bartley finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while senior outfielder Kaitlyn Loucks also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in to power the Lady Bulldogs' 14-hit onslaught.
Miller threw 4 1/3 innings to earn the win. She struck out two and allowed two runs on four hits and a walk.
Arrowood threw the final 2 2/3, giving up two runs on two hits and a pair of walks to garner the save.
Arrowood's two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth sent South Callaway to a 4-3 victory over Eldon to start bracket play on Saturday morning.
She got the win in relief of Miller, allowing two runs on on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings. Arrowood finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs as the Lady Bulldogs had six hits.
Loucks and junior Kennedy Farley both went 2-for-3 in South Callaway's 3-2 win over the Battle Lady Spartans in pool play on Friday. Farley drove in a run as the Lady Bulldogs finished with seven hits.
Arrowood struck out seven in a complete-game triumph. She gave up two runs on three hits and surrendered a walk.
Miller fanned three in 3 1/3 innings as South Callaway began tournament action with an 8-3 win over Mexico on Friday. Miller gave up three hits and allowed three runs while walking none.
Arrowood was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run shot in the first inning as her team collected five hits. She was named to the all-tournament team along with senior outfielder Hannah Oberdiek.
The Lady Bulldogs host Fulton at 5 p.m. today.
