The Bulldogs' offense erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning as they waltzed to a 13-2 six-inning non-conference win over the Wildcats on Monday.

Senior second baseman Smith Kemper put South Callaway on the board in the first by reaching on an error which allowed junior center fielder Cory Hanger to score.

Senior first baseman Ethan Ward singled in junior third baseman Tyler Adams in the second inning to increase the Bulldogs' advantage to 2-0.

South Callaway (14-5) got a two-run double from junior left fielder Mason Shoemaker and a two-run single from freshman catcher Grayson Peneston to highlight its onslaught in the third inning.

The Bulldogs pounded out 12 hits, while junior starter Troy Hentges limited Wright City to just five.

"After a rough game against Jeff City, they got back to good solid plate approaches and executed when the situation demanded it," South Callaway head coach Heath Lepper said.

Hanger finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Peneston was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Shoemaker was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Hentges threw five innings, scattered five hits, walked two, struck out two and allowed an earned run in the victory.

The Bulldogs dropped a game at Jefferson City 7-2 last Thursday and won at state-ranked Tuscumbia 9-6 last Wednesday.

South Callaway returns to action with a home Show-Me Conference tilt against St. Elizabeth at 5 p.m. Thursday.
