Sophomore Jake Hammerstone shot a team-low 45 and the Hornets finished third in Friday's quad match with Hannibal, Centralia and Wentzville-Liberty at Tanglewood Golf Course.
Senior Jack Brady was a shot back with a 46 for Fulton, which posted a 194 team total. North Central Missouri Conference foe Hannibal took first with a 152, Centralia - paced by medalist Damond Dollens' 36 - was second with a 166 and Liberty came in fourth behind the Hornets with a 198.
Junior Matt Henry also contributed a 50 for Fulton and senior Brenden Hodges had a 53.
"Right now we have one bad hole and it ends up turning into two or three bad holes," Hornets head coach Pat Kelley said. "Instead of putting it behind us, we start to press, and we can't do that.
"We have to do a better job about having a short memory."
The Hornets play in the Class 3, District 4 championships at 9 a.m. Monday at Elk Creek Golf Club in Moberly.
"I told the team that you've got to play the course and not play the guy next to you," Kelley said. "If they do that Monday, they'll be fine."
