North Callaway School Board receives cost estimates for potential improvements

KINGDOM CITY -The North Callaway Board of Education moved one step closer toward a potential November 2014 bond issue during Thursday night's regular meeting.

Principal architect Cary Gampher and intern architect/project manager Leslie Backstrom with The Architects Alliance returned during the meeting to give the board another look at options for various proposed improvements throughout the district.

Although much of the presentation was similar to the pair's previous presentation on Jan. 17, there were a few adjustments made based on feedback from the board and district staff. The primary difference in Thursday night's presentation was the inclusion of price tags.

Gampher and Backstrom presented multiple options and configurations for the high school, including:

•Renovation of existing science classrooms with an estimated cost range of $31,200-$62,400.

•Four different options for additions to the high school which would include new science labs, restrooms, a new locker room and new classroom space with estimated costs ranging from $788,400-$3.05 million

There also were cost estimates for ceiling replacements throughout the district with an estimated cost range from $341,946-$398,937, and for lighting upgrades throughout the district with a cost range of $123,600-$144,000.
