It's a month later than usual, but Auxvasse will be observing its 54th annual Loafer's Week from March 24-29.
The Auxvasse Community Hall will open at 8 a.m. each day for card games, dominoes and other activities. There also will be free coffee, iced tea and peanuts available.
As per tradition, lunch will be provided by a different area organization each day starting at 11 a.m.
Auxvasse Presbyterian Church will serve barbecued pulled pork Monday; the Auxvasse Senior Center will serve a ham dinner Tuesday; the Mexico Go Gitters Relay for Life team will serve roast pork Wednesday; the Auxvasse Community Hall Association will serve turkey and dressing Thursday and the Go Gitters will serve chili and hot dogs Friday. The Auxvasse Lions Club will hold its usual all-you-can-eat pancake meal from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Meal tickets are $7 except for the chili and hot dogs on Friday, which will be $6. Attendees can sign their meal ticket each day to be entered for two $25 cash prizes donated by United Security Bank.
The Community Hall Association will also have a 50/50 raffle; you do not have to be present to win.
According to a press release, Loafer's Week has become a reunion for Auxvasse natives. It serves as an opportunity for area residents to "get together and visit and find out what their friends and neighbors have been doing all winter."
