Hornets shift gears, speed past T-Birds

September 15th, 2013 in News

With just 53 seconds left in the first quarter, the offensive strategy of the North Callaway Thunderbirds and head coach Mike Emmons was working like a charm.

Emmons' plan was simple - use long, sustained drives to neutralize the high-powered playmaking of the Fulton Hornets' offense.

"Our best defense against their very potent offense was to keep our offense on the field and keep the clock running...," Emmons said.

It worked early, but the keepaway tactics could only last so long. Fulton's offense kicked it up a notch and North Callaway eventually couldn't answer back as the Hornets pulled away from the Thunderbirds in a 54-14 blitz at Robert E. Fisher Jr. Stadium on Friday night.
