Ten Callaway County veterans to take Honor Flight to Washington on Tuesday

Ten Callaway County veterans will be on next week's Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

The veterans will tour various memorials to veterans in Washington, D.C. and then make the return flight home on the same day.

They leave Columbia by bus at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and return by bus at 1 a.m. on Wednesday when they are welcomed home by friends and others gathered at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Columbia.

The veterans travel by bus to and from St. Louis for round-trip commercial flights to Baltimore, Md. were they are then bused to and from Washington, D.C.

Callaway County Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer, who is active in the Honor Flight organization in Callaway County, said the eight Callaway County veterans on Tuesday's flight are George Lewis, Earl O'Rourke, James McCarty, James Lantz, Robert Epperson, Kenneth Grotewiel, Colleen Moore, William Anthony, Frederick Lang and George Fitts.
