Fulton Street Fair makes band change

Headliner Ben Miller Band pulls from Street Fair to tour with ZZ Top

The Fulton Street Fair's patrons can expect a last-minute change in Saturday night's entertainment.

The Ben Miller Band, originally scheduled to headline Saturday night's The Callaway Bank stage at Fifth Street, has pulled from the Street Fair after being asked to continue touring with famous Southern rock band ZZ Top.

The Joplin-based Ben Miller Band had been opening for ZZ Top on its "LA Futura Tour," but recently was asked to join the group for the tour's European leg.

The band is known for its eclectic style featuring nontraditional instruments such as washtub bass and electric washboard. Entertainment co-chair Julie Mobley said there are no hard feelings with the band's decision, which she learned of Monday afternoon.

"It's a great opportunity for them, I don't blame them one bit," Mobley said. "I wish them luck."
