Ambulance board to give AED to City Hall

January 17th, 2013 in News

The City of Fulton will have an AED (automated external defibrillator) at City Hall now, thanks to the Callaway County Ambulance District.

At its Tuesday night meeting, the ambulance board voted unanimously to give the city an AED after Director Charlie Anderson passed on a request from city officials.

"It's a good location with a lot of public meetings, a lot of local traffic in and out," Anderson said. "The city said it doesn't have money in the budget to buy one and we still have three or four additional ones. They did agree to purchase a cabinet to put it in and to do maintenance on it."

In response to a query from board member John Brandt, Anderson said the district also will train city employees in how to use the AED.

In other business, the ambulance board voted to continue its insurance coverage with Continental Western, but to increase its deductible from $1,000 to $5,000.

After pointing out that Continental's rate had increased approximately $11,000 over last year, Tammy Wickham with Naught Naught Insurance Agency presented the board with several options.
