KINGDOM CITY - South Callaway head coach Tony Brandt decided to tweak the defensive approach for the Bulldogs as they opened the second half against the rival North Callaway Thunderbirds on Friday night.
After employing a zone defense and going into the break down 34-27, Brandt implemented a man-to-man scheme to start the third quarter, hoping the move would throw off the Thunderbirds.
"We switched some things we were doing and (North Callaway) took advantage of it very well," Brandt said. "They adjusted and had three of four possessions in a row where they scored.
"... It did not affect them whatsoever."
The Thunderbirds jumped on the Bulldogs with a 13-2 run to start the third quarter and fought off a late surge by South Callaway to prevail 66-55.
