Ladybirds deny Macon, set up shot to repeat at Centralia

Sorell, Brinker pilot North Callaway to 38-33 semifinal win

CENTRALIA - The North Callaway Ladybirds will get their chance to add a second straight title at the Centralia Tournament.

Senior forward Maddie Sorell and junior guard Elaine Brinker combined for 25 points Wednesday night, helping top-seeded and defending champion North Callaway fend off No. 5 Macon 38-33 in the semifinals.

The Ladybirds (4-1) were in front 20-14 at halftime, but the Lady Tigers outscored North Callaway 13-5 in the third quarter to go on top 27-25. The Ladybirds flipped the offensive script in the fourth quarter, outscoring Macon 13-6 over the last 8 minutes to secure their spot in the championship.
