Fulton kicked off Clean "n Green Week when more than 500 volunteers participated Saturday in a citywide trash pickup dubbed this year as Clean Sweep Saturday.

Volunteers met at 9 a.m. and were assigned sectors of the city to pick up trash in bags provided by the City of Fulton.

After their work was completed, the city provided drinks and snacks to the volunteers at Memorial Park.

At the same time Boyd & Boyd held its annual rummage sale on its parking lot. The firm sold table space to participants and donated all of the table rental money to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event.

The city's annual Fulton Pride Day was revised and renamed this year by adding several events throughout the week now known as Clean "n Green Week.

Fulton Mayor LeRoy Benton said the additional Earth-friendly events were added to tie in with Earth Day.
