Culver-Stockton's slam trips Owls in 6-2 loss

CANTON - Gene Nanney's grand slam with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 2-2 tie and sent Culver-Stockton College to a 6-2 win over the William Woods University Owls on Wednesday night.

The loss was the second straight for William Woods (10-13), which had tied the game in the top of the seventh on junior first baseman Eilert Meyers' RBI sacrifice fly. The Owls out-hit Culver-Stockton 7-6, but stranded 11 baserunners.
