Shawn Cockrum and Susie Hinrichs were elected Tuesday to three-year terms as members of the Board of Education at the New Bloomfield R-III School District.
Four people filed for the the two open seats on the board. The other two candidates were incumbent board member Kathy Becker and Wil Lawrence.
Cockrum had 262 votes, Hinrichs, 222; Becker, 193; and Lawrence, 69.
"I'm grateful to the voters who showed confidence in me," Cockrum said. "It's an exciting time to be a member of the board. I believe good things are ahead of us. I'm sorry to see Kathy Becker leave the board she put in a lot of work. But at the same time I'm sure Susie Hinrichs will be a great addition to the board."
Hinrichs also thanked the voters for their confidence in her.
"So many people helped me in the campaign and I appreciate their efforts. As a new member of the board I would like to make sure buildings are properly maintained, the finances are in order and strive to improve academics at the school," Hinrichs said.
