Westminster announces Dean for Mesa campus

June 15th, 2012 in News

Robert Seelinger, current professor of classics with Westminster College in Fulton, has been named the school's new Mesa, Ariz. dean, scheduled to open in fall of 2013.

Seelinger has been working with Westminster since he came on as an instructor in 1979. Since then, he has served as Dean of Faculty and Vice President of the college, director of assessment, coordinator of the Fine Arts Department, chair of the Humanities Division, chair of the Department of Classics, Philosophy, and Religion, Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature and Westminster's marshall.

Seelinger said "it is a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to serve as Dean," and that his experience is what earned him the high honors.

"I served in the Dean's office for seven years, and I've continued to be involved with some administrative assignments while I've been back in the classroom," said Seelinger. "I think it was an opportunity that seemed it would work out well for all parties."

Westminster's Mesa campus plans to offer students majors in International Business, Environmental Studies and Transnational Studies, and is slated to open for classes fall 2013. In the meantime, Seelinger will split his time between Fulton and Mesa, working with Fulton's Westminster officials while planning and developing for Mesa's future.
