Fulton's Jimmy Colbertson is an old pro as far as musical acts at the Street Fair go. When he and his band, Deep Water, take the stage tonight it'll be his third time drumming at the annual festival.
Deep Water's set begins at 8 p.m. at the Ameren Stage.
Colbertson stepped behind the drum kit for Deep Water a year ago as a substitute at the Moberly Moose Lodge and has been with the country group ever since.
He's been playing the drum for the past 43 years, inspired by a drummer he saw in the high school band.
"I thought it looked pretty cool," Colbertson recalled.
Colbertson has been with the Fulton Police Department for the past 17 years, currently serving as a special operations administrator. When he's not at the office, Deep Water is just one of the six bands he drums in.
"I found a bunch of guys I like playing with," Colbertson said. "And I hadn't gotten into a country band yet."
Deep Water features David Boggs on bass and lead vocals, Russell Hyde on vocals and Lonnie Patterson on vocals and guitar and Dan Hattfield on piano and steel guitar.
The quintet's gigs have been mostly around the Mid-Missouri area and Columbia, where four of the band members are from.
