Scholarships offered to Westminster, William Woods

Westminster College and William Woods University are among 16 private liberal arts colleges and universities in Missouri to receive scholarship grants from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation of St. Louis.

Mike Backer of Fulton, president of the Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF), said the organization has received a $15,200 grant to underwrite need-based scholarships at Westminster and William Woods, and at 14 other colleges and universities participating in the Missouri Colleges Fund.

"The Missouri Colleges Fund is grateful for this gift from Enterprise Holdings Foundation," Backer said. "Enterprise Holdings recognizes the importance of education and the significant impact that an educated workforce has on Missouri's economy."

He said the scholarships will be awarded by member schools to students studying toward attaining degrees in a business-related field with special emphasis on minority candidates.

The Missouri Colleges Fund's 16 member schools' income is derived primarily from private sources.
