NEW BLOOMFIELD - The newly-formed New Bloomfield Education Foundation expects to award its first two grants to New Bloomfield R-III classrooms on March 2.

Susie Hinrichs, foundation president, said the organization was formed by a group of parents to help advance academic achievement at New Bloomfield schools.

"We had heard that in some cases teachers were using their own money to buy supplies that are needed but not available because of budget constraints in classrooms," Hinrichs said. "Our goal is to help fill gaps on needed supplies and advanced technology.

"We want to make sure that students at the school have all of the curriculum items they need in their classrooms, and that teachers won't have to spend their own money in order to provide what is needed."
