Resignation leaves open seat on FSB

The resignation of one of its members Friday morning has left a vacancy on the Fulton School Board.

Linda Davis, who was elected to the board in April 2011, cited personal reasons for her departure.

"I appreciated the backing of the citizens during my service on the board," Davis wrote in an email. "At this time, it is in my personal best interest to resign."

Because the filing period the election cycle this April already has passed - the deadline was Tuesday - Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said the board will have to appoint a replacement according to district policy, which is based on state law.

"The current sitting board can appoint a member until the 2013 election cycle, then there will be an election to finish that term," Cowherd said, noting Davis' term ran through April 2014.
