MOKANE - Senior guard Jordan Gray responded with a game-high 19 points Wednesday night to help send the No. 4 seed North Callaway Ladybirds to a 50-33 win over No. 8 Montgomery County in the consolation semifinals of the South Callaway Tournament.

After North Callaway emerged from a sluggish first quarter with a meager 4-2 lead, the Ladybirds found their offensive rhythm and outscored Montgomery County 22-6 in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 24-10 advantage. North Callaway led 37-20 after three quarters.

"It was a matter of us starting to take our shots," Ladybirds head coach Jack Peace said. "We had not been taking the shots we would normally take, and we had been a little apprehensive. We just decided to play.

"I told the girls before the game that we just needed to go out and play basketball. There was no magic wand."
