MOBERLY - Moberly tallied the game's only run in the first inning Monday night as the Lady Spartans blanked the Fulton Lady Hornets 1-0 in a North Central Missouri Conference game.
Moberly used a walk, a sacrifice and a hit to manufacture the run.
Fulton loaded the bases with one out in the top of the seventh inning, but hit into a double play to end the game.
Freshman starter Brooke Baysinger suffered the complete-game loss for the Lady Hornets despite allowing only four hits. Baysinger issued six walks and struck out five.
Junior center fielder McKayla Ebersole went 2-for-3 as Fulton (7-13, 5-6 NCMC) totalled six hits. Junior shortstop Rachel Snethen was also 1-for-3 with a double and junior first baseman Anastacia Galbreath finished 1-for-2.
The Lady Hornets (4-4) prevailed in the junior varsity game 7-4. Galbreath went 2-for-2 with a double, three runs batted in and a run scored, while sophomore third baseman Sidney Bailey was 1-for-1 with a walk. Sophomore pitcher Autumn Lungstrum struck out three.
Fulton hosts NCMC rival Mexico for senior night on Thursday. The varsity-junior varsity doubleheader starts at 6 p.m.
