Arris' buffet may be a popular lunch option in Fulton, but there still often is pizza left over by 2 p.m.
When owner Barbara Archambault recently realized how much food was going to waste, she decided to put it to good use by donating it to the Fulton Soup Kitchen.
"In the past, I noticed they were disposing of (the leftover pizza), and then I thought, there was somebody that could use it," Archambault said.
Since the restaurant started freezing its lunch buffet leftovers and donating them to the soup kitchen, it has given more than 250 pizzas to feed Fulton's hungry.
"It helps quite a bit, because we can use that at least twice a month - it makes a big difference," said Soup Kitchen founder and president Anne Erbschloe. "These are good pizzas, and the people really do like them. We've been getting enough of them that I've been able to shuffle some of them down to our Holts Summit location on Tuesdays and Thursdays."
