Baumgartner arrested for burglary, passing forged checks

George "Trey" Baumgartner, 30 - the former Auxvasse alderman, who resigned after being arrested on drug charges on Nov. 4 - is in trouble again.

Baumgartner was arrested by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office on Nov. 11 for burglary, stealing and forgery.

"A sheriff's office deputy received a complaint on Nov. 7 from a resident in Auxvasse regarding a residential break-in and subsequent theft of personal checks," said Sgt. Clay Chism with the Callaway sheriff's office. "The deputy followed up on the case throughout the week. The deputy learned that some of these checks had been forged at various local businesses and banks, and identified George "Trey" Baumgartner as the suspect."

He said the deputy located and arrested Baumgartner at approximately 4 p.m. on Nov. 11, at which time Baumgartner was transported to the Callaway County Jail. He was released later Friday after posting $15,000 bond.
