These cars were left stacked together after the tornado that ripped through North Carolina in April. Red Cross volunteer Shirley Kunkle of Fulton recently spent two weeks volunteering to help victims of that storm.

Shirley Kunkle was struck by one thing in particular during the four weeks she spent volunteering with the Red Cross in North Carolina and then in Alabama, helping victims of the tornados that recently devastated those two areas: The generosity of those who were most affected by the storms.

"Everybody was so kind and concerned about everybody else. People were really taking care of each other, and even doing things in consideration of the Red Cross volunteers ," said Kunkle, of Fulton. "A lot of people not with the volunteer groups would show up on-site. There were just so many people willing to help. That's what impressed me, the kindness of people."
