Tips from Callaway County residents led to a recent arrest for residential burglary.
Nicholas Clark, 18, of Williamsburg was arrested on Oct. 22 after the tips led authorities to him.
According to the Callaway County Sheriff's Department, a residential burglary was reported on Oct. 21 in the Callaway Estates Neighborhood. The victim had been away from the residence for the day and came home to find someone had forced their way into the house. A large amount of property, including electronics and firearms, had been stolen.
Clark was arrested the next day at a nearby home. He had some of the property stolen from the residence in his possession, according to the CCSD.
"This arrest is a fine example of law enforcement and the community working together," Callaway County Sgt. Clay Chism said. "A small bit of information from the community goes a long way and can lead to an arrest, just as it did in this case."
Deputies are still attempting to locate other items stolen from the residence. They believe Clark may have disposed of some before his arrest.
He is housed in the Callaway County Jail for second degree burglary and felony stealing. He also has pending felony charges from Montgomery County on a burglary offense as well.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Department emphasizes residents should stay vigilant about suspicious persons and activities and report them to law enforcement officers.
