Five students were arrested and four staff members injured following a fight Thursday morning at Fulton High School.

The fight broke out before school at approximately 7:30 a.m. outside of the building, Fulton Public Schools Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said.

The fight spilled over into the FHS commons and was quickly broken up by administrators and faculty members, Cowherd said.

Officers responded at 7:37 a.m. and took one adult and four juveniles into custody, according to the Fulton Police Department.

The adult was identified as 18-year-old A'Davion Kemp. Kemp was taken to the Callaway County Jail while the juveniles were released to the custody of the Callaway County Juvenile Office.

All arrestees have been charged with felony assault and peace disturbance.

One of the injured staff members, Assistant Principal Joshua Pierce, was transported to a local hospital by the school nurse to receive medical attention, Cowherd said.

Law enforcement responding to the scene included the FPD, Callaway County Sheriff's Office and the school resource officer from North Callaway High School.

"The good news about the whole incident - if there's anything good about it - is (the district's) emergency procedures worked," Cowherd said. "Kids that typically do the right thing, the non-fighters, got out of the area and got to where they're supposed to be."
