As spring heats up, officials at the Callaway Chamber of Commerce are working hard on upcoming events.

Sign-ups are underway for the 2019 Business EXPO Showcase, Executive Director Tamara Tateosian said. This will be 4-7 p.m. April 11 at Callaway Senior Center. Booth prices are $100 for business and $50 for nonprofits.

The theme is "Connecting the Dots" To Doing Business Locally.

"The EXPO is a way to showcase what goods and services you offer, make connections with other businesses in Callaway County that you could support or use their goods and services within your business and network," Tateosian said. "Help us start connecting those dots by having a booth at this year's event."

The event will be free and open to the public.

The chamber also is accepting applications for Leadership Callaway Class of 2020. This is a 10-month program that offers participants a backstage pass to Callaway County. Classes focus on strengths, challenges, needs and overall community issues that participants can directly address.

"Sessions will cover diverse topics such as history, law, government and education," Tateosian said. "In addition, participants will learn about economic development and the opportunity to hear, see, and meet the catalysts for growth in our region."

The program cost is $550 per participant.

"All participants should be ready to jump in with both feet and maximize their experience," Tateosian said. "We expect participants to utilize the knowledge they receive in class to the betterment of our community."

Leadership Callaway County is a professional development opportunity that benefits the participant, employer and community, according to the chamber's website. It also says the time commitment is crucial to experiences with classmates. If an employee is interested in participating, they can contact Tina Knipfel for an application. All applicants will need at least two letters of recommendation to participate in the program. Applications should be returned no later than June 28.

Ready for some golf? Sign-ups are now underway for the 2019 Callaway Chamber Golf Tournament, which will be June 7 at Tanglewood Golf Course with a 9 a.m. start.

"Last year, we had to turn teams away so don't wait until the last minute to register," Tateosian said. "Cost per team is $400, mulligans and Texas Tee are an additional cost of $10 each per player."

Sponsorships are still available for Presenting Sponsorship, hole, beverage cart and hats. For those who want to reserve teams or sponsorships, they can contact Tateosian. Teams can be registered today with names and golf shirt sizes. Golf shirt orders will be made May 1.

The second Teachers Appreciation Breakfast is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at 54 Country.

"This event is to show support for our educators in Callaway County and help kick-off their new school year," Tateosian said. "We need food sponsors, swag bag sponsors and item donations, teacher sponsors, gift baskets, and volunteers."
