Teachers in the South Callaway R-2 School District will see a pay boost for the 2019-20 school year.
Board of Education members authorized adding $500 to the base rate for certified teachers during Wednesday's board meeting. This is the highest single-year raise in 10 years, Superintendent Kevin Hillman said.
Changes were also authorized to the insurance program. Employees who participate have been asked to get a yearly physical and register in a wellness program. Non-participating employees will face an extra $25 monthly charge for coverage.
Other agenda items included:
Updates on the high school science program.
Authorization of bills and passage of the consent agenda, which included the current substitute list.
A decision to sell the district's Apple devices and purchase new ones because the cost of the devices has decreased.
Acceptance of a bid for new lighting and controls for the outside parking lots.
An update on summer school, including results of a survey about student and teacher availability. The district will decide by Tuesday on whether to move forward with summer school.
