A Portland man was arrested Sunday for domestic assault, according to Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism.
Richard Atterberry, 33, was charged Monday with domestic assault and resisting arrest, both felonies. The charges and arrest follow an investigation conducted in the 10000 block of Route O on Sunday.
During the investigation, deputies encountered Atterberry and attempted to take him into custody. Instead, Atterberry fled deputies, resulting in a foot pursuit, Chism said.
Atterberry was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail. He was on parole through the Missouri Department of Corrections for a prior offense at the time of his arrest, and was returned to state prison for parole violations on Tuesday.
