The paving contractor on the U.S. Business 56 project has informed Fulton city officials the weather has turned too cold now to perform any paving operations at night.
"By taking advantage of the sun, they may be able to finish up the City of Fulton owned portion (north of Second Street roundabout to Ovid Bell Press) of Business 54 during the day," interim city engineer, Kyle Bruemmer said. "I have given them permission to perform day time operations."
The work they have left on the City of Fulton-owned section is a piece just north of the 10th Street traffic light up to Ovid Bell Press, along with tying in the many cross-street intersections.
Unless MoDOT takes the same course of action, the contractor may be done working on their sections (south of the Second Street roundabout and north of Ovid Bell) until weather breaks next year.
