Local dentists donated funds and supplies to help an upcoming children's class at the Art House, said I. Lynn Garriott Porter, Art House gallery manager.

"I wanted to bring to your attention an upcoming class that we are holding at Art House that is being put on through the generous sponsorship of local dental offices of Fulton Dental Clinic, Callaway Dental Clinic, St. George Family Dental, Michael Basnett, DDS, and Gray Duck Dentistry," Porter said. "Art House is committed to bringing art to our community and cares about the health and overall wellbeing of those in our community."

These local dental officers were asked to help sponsor the classes with $50 donations and possibly, some dental samples.

"We have also received from Callaway Dental Care 24 toothbrushes and from St. George Family Dental 24 packages of floss and lip balm," Porter added. "With their sponsorship we were able to purchase these additional hygiene supplies of a dental goody bag, a timer, and a tooth keeper necklace, as well as the air dry clay and paint for the kids to make their own toothbrush holder."

Students will be building, out of air dry clay, their own unique toothbrush holder on the first session and then painting them on the second session.

Each child will also receive a goody bag that has donated dental hygiene items, such as toothbrush, floss, and lip balm, as well as a timer and tooth keeper necklace for lost teeth.

Several sessions of Play with Clay will be offered in early June.

June 4 and 11: toothbrush holders, ages 5-9, 3-4 p.m. $10 covers both sessions;

June 7 and 14: toothbrush holders, ages 10 plus, 3-5 p.m. $15 covers both sessions.

The Play with Clay Class may be repeated at another date if supplies allow.

Today also ends the Art House's annual Callaway Plein Air event with a Wet Paint Reception 5-7 p.m. at 531 Court St. in Fulton. Artists began painting Thursday. There will be special awards. More than 150 new paintings will be at the reception and are available for purchase.
