Law enforcement officers make arrests

Several arrests were made late last week.

A man was arrested Thursday evening at the Fulton Walmart location after police responded to a report of a possible robbery in progress.

Responding at 7:27 p.m., an off-duty Fulton detective pursued a man on foot suspected of stealing a purse from a customer's cart. The detective and another officer were able to take the suspect, Joe Hultz Jr., 40, of Mexico, into custody.

During the investigation, officers determined Hultz took the victim's purse and while attempting to flee the scene, tried to get rid of the purse in a trash can outside. The victim was unharmed during the incident.

Hultz is charged with stealing and tampering with evidence. Hultz was taken to the Callaway County Jail with a $6,000 bond..

Also on Thursday, a Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputy was patrolling the 8000 block of Old U.S. 54 north of New Bloomfield at 3 a.m. During the patrol, the deputy observed a suspicious vehicle in the area. While monitoring the vehicle, a traffic violation was observed and the deputy stopped the vehicle.

The driver was identified as Cassandra Tucker, 27, of Fulton. The vehicle passenger was identified as Jesse DeValle, 37, also of Fulton.

DeValle was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an illegal weapon. DeValle was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail. Later on the arrest date, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged DeValle with felony possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of an illegal weapon. DeValle remains on a court-set bond of $6,000.

Tucker was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked. Tucker was transported to the Callaway County Jail and later released pending court appearance.

At 1:34 p.m. Wednesday, state troopers arrested Michael J. Kabatra, 34, of Jefferson City, in Callaway County. He was charged with speeding and driving while suspended and taken to Callaway County Jail.

Also on Wednesday, troopers arrested Dakota W. Morris, 17, of O'Fallon at 10:58 a.m. in Callaway County. His nine charges include: Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, delivery or possession of a controlled substance at a county jail, escape or attempted escape from custody while under arrest for a felony, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia/prior drug offense, possession of liquor by a minor, failure to display valid plates, failure to maintain proof with DOR/financial responsibility and no seatbelt. He was placed in the Callaway County Jail with no bond.

Troopers arrested Michael R. Andrews, 39, of Auxvasse, at 1:56 a.m. Wednesday in Camden County. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated/aggravated, failure to drive on the right half of the road, speeding 102 mph in a 65 mph zone, driving while revoked/chemical revocation, and violation of ignition interlock restriction.

Crashes

Jefferson City police reported a crash at 6:08 p.m. Friday on U.S. 5063 eastbound involving Holts Summit residents. A 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by Brian K. Jenkins, 37, was traveling east in the far right lane when it hit a bump, causing a trailer to separate from the vehicle. The trailer went off the right side of the road and overturned, spreading a debris field across the road. The lane was shut down and blocked for about an hour and a half, No injuries were reported.

Troopers also reported a minor injury accident on Interstate 70 westbound in Callway County. Jessica M. Kolar, 26, of Hermann, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt when her 2010 Toyota Rav 4 went off the right side of the road and overturned. The vehicle was totaled.

On Monday, a two vehicle accident was reported at 10:35 a.m. on Route HH, at County Road 230. Marilyn G. Loutzenhiser, 73, of Auxvasse, received moderate injuries in a head on collision. Her 2014 Ford F150 was hit by a 2008 Honda Accord driven by Reanna M. Pitts, 34, of Fulton, which crossed the center line. Loutzenhiser was taken to University Hospital.
