Fulton Middle School eighth-grade students on Friday got a taste of high school during Stepping Up to Success day.

Organized by the school's counselors, the event featured Fulton High School's teams, organizations and clubs. It also involved presentations from 15 people with jobs in varied career paths - from FBI Staff Operation Specialist Tina Grateke to Fulton Fire Chief Kevin Coffelt to computer programmer Tom Markway.

"We tried to find local people," counselor Stephanie Horstmeier said. She said the transition from middle to high school is rough for some students, especially those without older siblings. The event aimed to ease the transition and remind students to look ahead to their future careers.
