The Foundation for the Benefit of Helias Catholic High School, along with the school, will "Celebrate the Legacy" March 3 with the gala at Capitol Plaza Hotel.

The new event "is geared toward raising money to support the endowment and thus help keep tuition low," according to a news release from the foundation.

A reception in the hotel's atrium will kick off the evening at 6 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. dinner in the ballroom.

"This celebration for education will highlight various aspects of the Helias educational experience in order to make the community aware of the benefits of a Helias education. A very special portion of the evening will be to celebrate and honor this year's 2018 Hall of Fame inductees," according to the the news release.

Helias' Hall of Fame began in 2008, and the school and its community this year will honor six people: the Most Rev. John R. Gaydos, bishop emeritus of Jefferson City; Didier de Carvalho Aur; Harold Godfrey Butzer, '40 (posthumously); Mark Saucier, '68; Dana Wilbers; and Outstanding Staff Member of the Year Peggy Rogers.

Hall of Fame honorees "must have graduated at least 20 years prior to induction, demonstrated loyalty and service to Helias, distinguished him or herself in a chosen field and have exhibited moral standards to the credit of the school."

The program, including the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, will begin at 7:45 p.m. Dancing will begin at 8:30 p.m., set to the music of Jefferson City group SoulRoot.

There will be raffles throughout the evening, with prizes including choice of vacation destination, a flat-screen TV, cash, "boat of brew" and one year of free tuition at Helias.

People interested in attending should contact the Foundation at 573-635-3808 to RSVP by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday. Tickets are $50 per person, or a table of 10 can be purchased for $500.
