Corp. Mansoor Shams will talk about the unique experience of being a Muslim in the U.S. Marine Corps at 7 p.m. tonight in Champ Auditorium at Westminster College in Fulton.
Shams is a U.S. Marine veteran, business owner and Muslim youth leader. He served four years in the Corps, where he received several honors including a meritorious promotion, Marine of the Quarter and Certificate of Commendation.
He's been featured by the PBS, NPR, BBC, New York Times, Washington Post and has made national TV appearances as a commentator on CNN and MSNBC. Shams holds a master's degree in government, with an emphasis on security studies, and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. He currently works as president of technology distribution company.
