Man arrested following chase

A driver was arrested late Friday by Fulton police after he attempted to elude them.

Kavin B. Vance, no age or hometown noted, was charged with felony driving while revoked, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, resisting arrest by flight, careless and imprudent driving, first-degree property damage, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of marijuana (under 35 grams) and two warrants, one misdemeanor and one felony. He is being held with no bond at the Callaway County Jail, police said.

About 10:50 p.m. Friday, police saw a Buick with incorrect license plates being driven by Vance, who they knew had a felony revoked driver license status and multiple warrants out for his arrest.

Police reported an officer drove up behind the vehicle and activated emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. However, the vehicle left the scene at a high rate of speed and the officer, and then others, pursued. The car eventually crashed into a city of Fulton utility pole at the intersection of Westminster Avenue and West 11th Street, then hit a stop sign and a chain link fence.

According to a police release, Vance fled the crash scene on foot into Carver Park. Officers chased him and were able to take him into custody without incident. While searching Vance and his vehicle, two bags of marijuana were located, police said.

Charges may change and more could be added, police said. There were no injuries reported and no police vehicles were involved in any accidents.
