The Fulton Police Department discovered a body Monday afternoon while seeking a missing local man, Police Chief Steve Myers said.

"We have found a body and it has not been identified as yet," Myers said. "I think there is a relatively good chance (it is DeBrodie), certainly, but I can't say 100 percent."

Carl DeBrodie, 31, was reported missing from an supported living facility on the morning of April 17. Since then, local police, deputies, firefighters and volunteers have been combing the streets and woods near the Claymine Drive facility.

Myers declined to state where the body was found. "I don't know (its sex)," he said.

Nor has the cause of death been officially determined, he said.

DeBrodie was last seen wearing a leather jacket, an orange-and-white striped polo, blue jeans and white athletic shoes. Myers was unable to confirm whether the body's clothing matched that description.

"The clothing was not identifiable," he said. "The medical examiner will do an autopsy."

Myers said police officers found the body, and then notified DeBrodie's family and volunteer searchers at the Memorial Park pavilion a body had been discovered.

More information will follow as the police department releases it.

"Officers are still in the field," Myers said. "We're still right in the midst of this investigation, so we don't want to do anything to harm that investigation."

Volunteers had continued searching throughout the weekend, DeBrodie's aunt Carol Samson said earlier Monday.

"There were two different dog handlers, one from Illinois and one from St. Louis," Samson said.

Members of the Missouri Militia also participated Sunday.

"There was between 70 and 80 people, getting close to a hundred," Samson said.

Anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding DeBrodie's disappearance should contact the Fulton Police Department at 573-592-3100.
