The Callaway County Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association had a fall get-together at Shryock's Corn Maze on Oct. 9. About 20 alumni and family members enjoyed wandering through the corn maze, exploring the pumpkin patch and roasting marshmallows for s'mores around the bonfire. The children especially enjoyed the gumball machine and all the activities in the Fun Barn.
For its next event, the chapter will have a watch party for the MU-Florida football game at 3 p.m. Saturday at 1851 Underground Top & Grill, 111 E. Fifth St. All Tiger fans are welcome.
In addition, the chapter and the American Red Cross will sponsor a satellite blood drive in conjunction with Mizzou's record-breaking Homecoming Blood Drive. The blood drive, which is open to the public, will be 1-6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Callaway Electric, 1313 Cooperative Drive. All presenting donors will receive a Mizzou Bood Drive T-shirt while supplies last.
The Callaway Chapter recently was designated a Capstone Chapter by the Mizzou Alumni Association, in recognition of distinguished attainments and support of the University of Missouri.
The chapter is one of the few to have achieved Capstone status each year since the award was established nearly 20 years ago. Tim Conner, immediate past president; Mike Conner, president; and Mary Ann Beahon, founding board member, accepted the award during Leaders' Day in Columbia Sept. 23.
Anyone interested in learning more about the chapter and its activities, should contact Mike Conner at [email protected] or Melanie Czeschin, secretary, at [email protected].
