Callaway fair to feature new activities

The Kingdom of Callaway County Fair from Aug. 2-6 will feature new activities, vendors and a new location.

"We have some new events, a new location and definitely more things for the kids to do," said Stephanie Hampton, president of the Kingdom of Callaway Fair Board of Officers. "There are also lots of new vendors and new food."

The annual fair, historically held at the Callaway Fairgrounds off State Highway C south of Fulton, has been moved to the Callaway Raceway, 7419 County Road 405. The new spot should provide an improved venue for the events, Hampton said.

"The main highlights would be the raceway on Friday night and the rodeo on Saturday night," she said.

The fair will also feature more child-friendly activities, including free carnival rides for children 12 and under on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.

The food options have also been expanded for the event.

"We have our usual, and we have six new food vendors," Hampton said. "Plus the race track will be operating both of their concession stands. There's going to be a lot of food there."

Hampton said the fair is an opportunity for the community to come together and have a good time.

General admission is $5, and children 5 and under are free. For the carnival rides, a wristband can be purchased for $15 that allows unlimited rides from 6-10 p.m. To see the Callaway Races Friday night, there is an additional $7 fee at the race track's main gate and additional $20 fee at the pit gate.
