CALIFORNIA, Mo. -- Fulton boys track and field recorded five first-place finishes in the California Quad Thursday at California High School.
With it being a four-team event, there were no medals or team scores.
In addition to winning five events, Hornets freshman Eli Nichols broke the school record javelin distance at 130 feet and 9 inches. The previous record holder was Carter Sewell, who set it last year at 122-11.2.
The Hornets' event winners were Noah Combs in the 1,600-meter run (5 minutes and 3.5 seconds), Fulton's 4x100 (:48.14) and 4x800 relay teams (9:24.6), Will Wagner-Yates in the pole vault (11-5.8) and Eli Nichols in the javelin (130-8.9).
Second-place finishers for Fulton were Marquise Anyaeto in the 200 dash (:24.39), Josh Frazee in the 800 run (2:26.71), Kai Foster in the 1,600 run (5:06.47), Ryne Shadbolt in the 3,200 run (12:18.52), the Hornets' 4x400 relay team (3:54.22) and Ryan Roselius in the triple jump (38-5.02).
Roselius tallied two of Fulton's six third-place performances in the high jump (5-7.72) and long jump (17-10.17).
Rounding out the Hornets' third-place displays were Anyaeto in the 100 dash (:11.98), Nathan Buckwalter in the 800 run (2:26.73), Noah Thompson in the 1,600 run (5:13.44) and Marcus Garrett in the 110 hurdles (:18.68).
Fulton's next meet is at 9 a.m. on March 30 at Holt High School in Wentzville.
