Lady Bulldogs whip Linn in SMC triumph

MOKANE - The South Callaway Lady Bulldogs raced to a commanding 35-14 halftime advantage in blowing past the Linn Lady Wildcats 61-31 in a Show-Me Conference blitz Thursday night.

Sophomore forward Adrian Mann connected for a game-high 19 points to lead three players in double figures for South Callaway (10-4, 5-1 SMC), which won its second straight game. Junior forward Nicole Horstman followed with 18 points and sophomore guard Kaci Jordan contributed 11.

"The first-half stats kind of say it all," Lady Bulldogs head coach Darren Humphrey said. "We ran through the offense really well and hit a lot of outside shots. The defense came out with a purpose - the girls are hungry."

Megan Thoenen finished with a team-high seven points for Linn.

South Callaway, drawing the second seed, squares off against No. 7 Westran at 6 p.m. Monday in the first round of the 32nd-annual Sturgeon Tournament. The game will be played in the middle school gym.

"I think the ladies are ready to prove a point," Humphrey said.
