Ladybirds come in third at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Mo. - Sophomore Reyna Schmauch won the 3,200 meters and senior Bethany Bloss finished first in the shot put as the North Callaway Ladybirds track and field team came in third at the Bowling Green Mini Medal Invitational on Tuesday.

On the boys' side, senior Will Crawford triumphed in the pole vault and freshman Jason Stewart took first in the triple jump as the Thunderbirds placed seventh as a team.

Schmauch was victorious in the 3,200 with a time of 12 minutes, 45.87 seconds, and Bloss prevailed in the shot with a throw of 35 feet, 3 inches, as the North Callaway girls compiled 103 points. The Ladybirds' 1,600 relay - consisting of sophomore Kyla Bertschinger, juniors Jaclyn McMurtry and Colleen Meffert, and senior Skylar Schmauch - also finished first in 4:37.38.

Senior Erinn Bush came in second behind Bloss in the shot (32-0) and placed third in the discus (90-6). Bertschinger took third in the 400 (1:07.26), sophomore Kallie Jo Lehenbauer finished third in the 100 hurdles (:18.34), and Meffert took fourth in the 300 hurdles (:54.53).

North Callaway's 800 relay of McMurtry, Meffert, freshman Mackenzie Ausfahl and Lehenbauer placed second in 2:02.60, while the 400 relay of McMurtry, Bertschinger, Ausfahl and Lehenbauer finished third in :57.58.

The 3,200 relay - made up of Skylar Schmauch, freshman Christa Gilman, sophomore Alyssa Rinehart and Reyna Schmauch - also came in third in 11:50.06.

Crawford won the pole vault at 10-0 and Stewart was victorious in the triple jump at 43-4 as the North Callaway boys totalled 53 points. Junior Levi Gilman finished second in the 110 hurdles (:17.38) and third in the 300 hurdles (:44.77).

Senior Manzell Payne also took third in the high jump (5-6).

North Callaway competes in the Missouri School for the Deaf Invitational at 1 p.m. today.
