Hornets take third at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Mo. - Sophomore Ammod Davis posted victories in the 100 and 200 meters to steer the Fulton Hornets track and field team to a third-place finish at the Bowling Green Mini Medal Invitational on Tuesday.

In the girls' division, sophomore Kate Pani won the 100 and long jump as the Lady Hornets came in sixth as a team.

Davis triumphed in the 100 in 11.59 seconds and prevailed in the 200 in :23.95 as the Fulton boys accumulated 100 points. Davis was also part of the Hornets' 800 relay - joining junior Jared Eliuk, sophomore Nazir McClain and junior Tanner Steffen - that took first in 1:40.36.

Eliuk was victorious in the 400 in :54.03 and sophomore Mason Gaines won the 1,600 in 5:02.00. Sophomore Lecheyon Williams came in third in the pole vault with a leap of 9 feet, 6 inches, Steffen finished fourth in both the 110 hurdles (:18.28) and 300 hurdles (:44.95), and sophomore Gabe Luebbert took fourth in the 800 (2:16.43).

Fulton's 3,200 relay - made up of Gaines, freshmen Canyon Milligan and Zechariah Schwinke, and Luebbert - placed third in 9:33.00. Eliuk, freshman Taeon Logan, Steffen and sophomore L'Trevion Kemp-Vaughn teamed up in the 1,600 relay to take fourth in 4:05.17.

Pani delivered a victory in the 100 in :13.40 and came in first in the long jump at 15-2 as the Fulton girls logged 57 points. Pani also finished third in the 200 in :28.94.

Junior Sierra Bickell took second in the 100 hurdles (:18.20) for the Lady Hornets, while senior Rachel Guse' placed third in the long jump (14-4) and fourth in the 800 (2:45.65). Senior Michaela Huff finished fourth in the pole vault (7-0).

Host Bowling Green pulled off a sweep of the boys' and girls' team titles with 152 and 151 points, respectively.

Fulton competes in the McCush Relays at Boonville at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 15.
