Lady Wildcats golf team takes third at Eugene meet

EUGENE - Sophomore Maddison Markland shot a 49 as the New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats golf team came in third in Wednesday's quad meet with the host Eugene Lady Eagles, Russellville and Eldon at Redfield Golf Course.

Sophomore Alexandra Morningstar also provided a 50 for New Bloomfield, which compiled a 216 team total. Russellville was first with a 208, Eugene came in second with a 213 and Eldon finished fourth with a 224.

Senior Hannah Cornman chipped in with a 53 for the Lady Wildcats and freshman Katie Kelley shot a 64.

"I was a lot happier with our effort and saw a lot of good things out there on the course, cutting a few strokes off our scores," New Bloomfield head coach Aaron Murphy said.

The Lady Wildcats return to Redfield for the Class 1, District 3 championships at 9 a.m. Monday. The district field includes Eugene, Bolivar, Crocker, Eldon, Father Tolton, Helias, School of the Osage, Russellville and Southern Boone.
