Cable, Owls soccer team registers first shutout of season

Sophomore goalkeeper Conor Cable posted four saves as the William Woods University Owls soccer team collected its first shutout of the season in Saturday's 5-0 non-conference victory over Bethany (Kan.) College at Firley Field.

Sophomore forward Rodrigo Alves scored goals in the 10th and 82nd minutes to power William Woods University (3-3-1). Sophomore midfielder Lendell Louis-Jacques (41st minute), senior defender Alex Severino (52nd) and junior midfielder Brett Hodges (76th) added goals for the Owls.

William Woods outshot Bethany (1-6) by a 22-15 margin, including 12-4 in shots on goal, and possessed a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Owls return to American Midwest Conference play when they travel to St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 9 tonight.
